The centre lobe sometimes differs in having a shortened, rounded tip. The new young leaves are bright pinky red, becoming darker, purplish red in the summer, and often bronzed green later. Fall colour is bright scarlet. The short slender leaf stalks are bright red. This cultivar forms a dense, upright shrub.
