Acer palmatum 'Chishio'
Small, slow-growing, deciduous tree, eventually reaching about 4m, with a twiggy habit, the 5-lobed leaves 6cm long and wide, have toothed margins, the spring colour of emerging leaves is brilliant crimson, maturing to green in summer then developing orange and red tones of varying intensity in autumn. Inconspicuous red-purple flowers in spring may be followed by winged, purple fruits
