Dissectum group - Red

Acer Palmatum -

Octopus

The vigorous long new ‘tentacles’ of this attractive red dissectum arch outward and give it the name Octopus. The spring leaves are pink-red with a narrow greenish midrib, becoming a darker plum red, then coppery red with a greenish tinge along the midribs as the leaf develops in early summer. The colour tunes a bright crimson-red in the autumn. The deeply dissected leaves are medium to large in size. The seven lobes are themselves deeply dissected and conspicuously toothed. The teeth have many sharply pointed, hooked tips. The short, slender leaf stalks are orange-red. Grows into a broad dome with pendulous shoots and foliage.
